Kremlin Says Russia-Belarus Nuclear Drills Are Intended as “Signal”

(MENAFN) According to reports, joint military exercises between Dmitry Peskov involving Russia and Belarus that include nuclear-related components are being deliberately used as a form of messaging.

The Kremlin explained that such drills are not only part of routine military training but also carry a broader communicative purpose. As stated by Dmitry Peskov, the exercises are meant to be interpreted beyond their operational scope. “Any exercises are part of military development, and any exercises are a signal,” Peskov told reporters.

The joint activities between Russia and Belarus are taking place over several days this week, running from Tuesday through Thursday. Earlier statements from Belarusian authorities indicated that the drills also involve elements of nuclear weapons handling training, including simulated preparation for their possible deployment in combat scenarios.

Separately, attention was also drawn to foreign policy developments involving Vladimir Putin.

According to reports, the Kremlin described his recent visit to China as highly positive and productive in tone and outcome.

Officials also noted that discussions with Chinese counterparts included advancement on major energy infrastructure cooperation, particularly the Power of Siberia 2. Progress in negotiations was highlighted, with signals that key technical and strategic details are moving forward.

As stated by Dmitry Peskov, “Indeed, progress has been achieved, and understanding has been reached on many key details of the Power of Siberia 2 issue,” Peskov said. “Progress can and should be acknowledged.”
